Can aluminum oil pans for cars be welded?

My car has a small scrape on the bottom of the oil pan and ot started leaking, its an 06 Dodge Stratus. I was wondering instead of replacing the oil pan could it be welded since replacing it costs a lot more and its very hard to find the pan? Will it be like new or will it eventually leak again? Help!!!

Can aluminum oil pans for cars be welded?
Yes it can be welded. It will have to be removed from the car and cleaned very well. It should be tig welded from the inside.

I have welded my Eco Tech aluminum pan twice. It is in a dune buggy and I have cracked it a couple of times on some big rocks. Can aluminum oil pans for cars be welded?
X, Yes you can. At my place of work, we have 1 guy that removes the oil pan, cleans and preps the area then Tig welds the hole. Your right the oil pans for some the cars run $300 to $500. Find a shop that can Tig your hole. Good Luck TW
Yes it can be welded. If you have an aircraft mechanic in an airport near you, I'll guarantee you that he can weld aluminum.

Otherwise, take it to a welding or machine shop/
You can weld it with an aluminum rod then seal it with acetylene bronze welding... the aluminum weldinfd might be porous
get a phone book and call welding places that say we fix radiators they can weld aluminum u have to have an aluminum welders to fix it it depends on how bad it is
