I have a Honda civic ex 01 and I need to take the oil pan can any one tell me how to take it off I have taken the bolts off but its still glue by the silicone what should i do help thanks. How to take the oil pan off a honda civic ex 01?
take a rubber hammer and hit on the side of it a little not to hard, to help break the seal and then it should let go,make sure all the bolts are out of it though,i did this a few times and always seem to forget about a few bolts, other that that it will come off, just lightly tap on it and it will break the seal on it and once it lets go the you can pull the rest of it away, good luck on it.How to take the oil pan off a honda civic ex 01?
remember to thoroughly remove any remants of the seal before reinstalling it. i would use some acetone and a single edge razor to clean the fittings. u will need a fresh gasket. i would run a single edge razor around it to break it free. watch the torque on putting it back on and it may be a good idea to tighten everyother bolt slightly and then do the others and then torque them to correct specs to get a good seal. i am surprised there arent any exhaust pipes in the way of removing the pan. good luck.
BTW when installing the new oil pan and gasket... we used Hondabond liquid sealant. Remember not to overtighten those bolts. I believe that the torque spec is only 8 ft lbs of torque for them. And if you over tighten them, the oil pan will leak.
