My oil pan was recently damged, and when putting the new one on, noticed some bolt slots r stripped. now what?

the slots have been damaged and the front 3 bolts could be removed by hand even after they were screwed in. my friend said seal them up w/ silicon but idk bout that any ideas? My oil pan was recently damged, and when putting the new one on, noticed some bolt slots r stripped. now what?
if you know how to use heli_coils i would use them for the repair of the stripped holesMy oil pan was recently damged, and when putting the new one on, noticed some bolt slots r stripped. now what?
retap them and put in over sized bolts
That is a bummer. A couple of choices already mentioned. You can get a helicoil and install that to repair the threads. You could also just go to the next larger size bolt, drill and tap the hole and use the larger diameter bolts.

I hope that you have room to do this drilling and tapping. I don't think that the silicon will hold up without the bolts. Fix it right or else you could run out of oil and that may mean a new engine.

good luck
get you a cheap tap and die set,and re-thread them, they may not seal back up unless they tighten up good,i wouldn't trust them unless they was real good and tight, that's the right way to repair it,good luck with it.
there is a product out ther called ';lock tight'; that may work for you. it helps in locking the threads. If it was me-I would re-thread..... it is not that big of a job.
go n buy some self tapping bolts and rethread the bad holes
Be careful with helicoils. Try tapping it first.

The silicone thing sounds like something I would do!!!
