How to remove the oil pan from a 1998 ford ranger?

Main problem detatching the transmission inspection coverHow to remove the oil pan from a 1998 ford ranger?
Ford will tell you to pull the engine to actually remove oil pan....

But to pull pan it will require jacking up the motor, removing the transmission as you have to drop the oil pump into the pan to remove the pan to replace the gasket for instance.... if not you won't be able to due to the inspection plateHow to remove the oil pan from a 1998 ford ranger?
You can but basically to remove inspection plate requires same movements as pulling the transmission as there are two guide pins you have to get past... two more steps and transmission is out completely Report Abuse

usually , the oil pan has 12 bolts , and u can see it clearly. !

So, use socket take out all the bolt, then take out oil pan.!

But do not forget change the gasket when u put that one back, ok.....and tight the bolts by your hands, little bit tight , ok...!!
