What's the best way to fix a rusty oil pan without replacing it?

I recently changed my oil and noticed flakes of rust on my oil pan.I was wondering if there is something out there to put on it to prevent further rust and leaking. The car has seen 17 Ohio winters. What's the best way to fix a rusty oil pan without replacing it?
you have to be careful though the pans are made fairly thin so don't use the brush a lot. just to get the flakes off so you can paint it. do a lot of coats. look for the rubberized paint. its basically rhino lining in a can so it will make a pretty thick layer of rubber to protect it.What's the best way to fix a rusty oil pan without replacing it?
Wire brush or sand the rusty area down to bare metal. Use a high temperature primer and high temperature enamel. There are many brands available at any auto parts store or even Walmart and Kmart. The engine pan will reach several hundred degrees and regular paint won't hold up.
If the rust is on the outside it should be ok to paint but on the inside usually means you have water in the oil and could be something more serious.
there is a this stuff called exstend you can spray on it to stop the rust.you can find it at Auto Zone
well take it off wire wheel or wire brush the rust off the pan then get antirust primier and repaint it it should help it.
rustoleum paint wire brush by hand paint away
