How can I get the oil pan out of a 1996 Ford Ranger 2X4? Do I have to take out the transmission?

I have already toof off all nuts and bolts. The oil pan is free, there's no room to pull it out.How can I get the oil pan out of a 1996 Ford Ranger 2X4? Do I have to take out the transmission?
you have to remove the engine mounting bolts and transmission mounting bolts and jack up the engine as high as you can get it without crushing firewall. Then you have to remove the oil filter before you can remove the oil pan. I had to remove motor fan and jack up motor at front pulley. This is not a fun project but it is the only way i know how without removing entire front end.
