Cheapest way to fix cracked oil pan?

I have a 2003 VW Jetta and found out that my oil pan is cracked beyond repair. Need to get a new one.. wondering if there were any online stores that had the part discounted (the dealer quoted me $226 for the oil pan %26amp; another $30 for the gasket) and how much I should be paying to get this put in (I don't want to get scammed). I live in VT if that helps w/ labor rates.Cheapest way to fix cracked oil pan?
wow, mynephew just did this to his Jetta. I found a pan on e-bay for 50 and it was a cinch to put in. Not more than 30 minutes. (provided nothing else ws damaged) He was worried his engine fried from oil starvation and hated to put in a bunch of money to see if it still ran. It was fine. Shouldn't be more than 100 labor from any individual shop. Dealership will screw you for everything they can. Your lookin at a good thousand dollars from them in all. They aim to screw ya and laugh all the way to the next multimillion dollar expansion. P.S. reused gasket, just added sealant around it. it's kind of a hard material.Cheapest way to fix cracked oil pan?
Getting a good second one would be good, but getting it welded would also be fine they would also use silicone for a gasket so that 30dollar saving. Regards marty engine reconditioner.
JB Weld is the best. Just be sure the repair area is clean of dirt and oil before applying.
jb weld its like 5 bucks at the auto parts store.
buy a new one
you can use JB weld but to do it right the pan still needs to come off and cleaned real good and the JB weld needs to sit about 12 hrs. before you put oil back in the car, If it were my car I would just get a new oil pan or one from the junkyard or you could even have the old pan welded while you have it off.

my old man is a mechanic and he has used epoxy on minor repairs for that kind of stuff for years..................its about 6.00 A tube at autozone or if you need to replace the oil pan your local junk yard would be your cheapest route
Try salvage yards in your area, find someone that will do it for labor only.
