Your current knowledge of cars could be very dangerous in this case! Do not change your own oil, because, if you do something wrong like tightening the drain plug too tight, you could strip out the threads and end up having to buy a new oil pan (very expensive) or not tightening it enough, and having it fall out and destroy the engine. Over tightening or under tightening the oil filter could cause a major oil leak and also destroy your engine. As well as, sometimes when removing the old filter, the old gasket sticks and when you put on the new filter it will have two gaskets.... causing a major leak.





Unless you have someone who will help you out the first time, I recommend that you take it to a garage.How do you change the oil on a 1999 mercedes suv and where is the oil pan located?
If you have not done before then I would recommend that you have it done for you because it is not a simple task plus it is very messy and you need to make sure that you install the oil filter element correctly.





The plug is located at the bottom and the oil filter element is located at the top.
