Can I fix it?
You ';should'; be okay. Drain the gas from the oil pan, fill with oil and drain again. Refill with the proper oil. I would think you are fine unless you ran it for a long period like that or if something else happened that you didn't mention when you started it and noticed the ';smoke';. Good luck.I accidentally put gas in the oil pan of my lawnmower %26amp; didn't notice until the smoke came out. Can I fix it?
If the mower was still running when you discovered the problem, then it's possible you didn't do any fatal damage. Drain, refill with oil and give it a shot. If it is blown, maybe you can play dumb and bring it back under warranty: but this isn't the ethical choice.
don't run it 1st you need to drain all the oil out i mean all of it then get add motor flush with some fresh oil and then run it for about 30 min so gets throw the motor and clean it then drain it once again and ad fresh oil that should do it and pray that it works lol if you got it in time it should be fine
You might have cleaned sludge out yer mowers engine. Get the oil and gas out and put some fresh oil in. I use diesel oil instead of gas but hay you done did the deed right? Dump the engine and restock it with the correct amount of oil and mow on. It should be ok.
If the mower engine will still crank easily, then just remove the gas/oil mixture and replace. Nice job getting it clean and all.Maedaobqhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01153477335457856104noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2508496162253629466.post-86181243468682252482010-04-28T19:20:00.002-07:002010-04-28T19:20:49.905-07:00What do you prefer for an oil pan gasket? 1 piece or 3 piece?I have an 84 suburban And I had recently put a new gasket set on the oilpan but split it (of course) on the last bolt so now Ive gotta redo-it, what is the better way to go

1 piece

or

3 piece?

what is easier and quality wise is their a diffrence? Thanks!

(I used 3 piece last time. btw)What do you prefer for an oil pan gasket? 1 piece or 3 piece?
I always use a one piece gasket if it's available. there are some aftermarket companies that make performance gaskets that use the 3-piece design with crush limiters in the gasket so you can't over tighten the bolts and crack the gasket. When I use the one piece gaskets, I don't use any sealer on them either. Maybe just a dab in the corners where the timing cover meets the block. What do you prefer for an oil pan gasket? 1 piece or 3 piece?
one piece
Good one piece gaskets have crush sleeves in them too. That's what I use on a racing V8 with no leaks.
great makeup
Maedaobqhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01153477335457856104noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2508496162253629466.post-28406874358109599662010-04-28T19:20:00.001-07:002010-04-28T19:20:23.818-07:00A question about the oil heating pan on a Honda Civic?I have a 1998 Honda Civic EX and it has an ';oil heating pan'; or something like that...I have some questions about it:

*What exactly is it?

*Is there a maximum amount of time I should leave it plugged in?

*Do I unplug it before I start my car?

*Should I plug it in right after I get my car home, while the oil is still warm? I have never had a HOnda that didn't start even in subzero temperatures down to -38 degrees FA question about the oil heating pan on a Honda Civic?
the oil heater in your oil pan is there to make your car start alot easier in very cold temp. it can left plugged in for long periods of time, you dont have to unplug it before you start just make sure it is unplugged before you drive away, and plug it in when ever it is convenient for you
its for the winter, to warm up the oil so its easier to start

you can leave it plugged in all night, minimum time is about 3 hours before you start the car

i dont think you really need itMaedaobqhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01153477335457856104noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2508496162253629466.post-40687745920321406522010-04-28T19:20:00.000-07:002010-04-28T19:20:02.089-07:00Where can i find a 5.9 liter engine to fit my 95 dodge ram? my engine blew and i shot a rod threw my oil pan?ive looked around but cant find much i found a guy that will switch them out for $500...and would it be better to get a crate motor? i race alot, whats the difference between crate motor, a block and just a regular stock...Where can i find a 5.9 liter engine to fit my 95 dodge ram? my engine blew and i shot a rod threw my oil pan?
If you're going to blow up more motors you might consider looking here for low mileage used ones. This is the service all the salvage yards use to list inventory and prices.

http://car-part.comMaedaobqhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01153477335457856104noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2508496162253629466.post-28838580666409095632010-04-28T19:19:00.003-07:002010-04-28T19:19:50.773-07:00Can You Fix a Big Hole In an Oil Pan?We have a '94 Ford Escort that we take up in a field and hit Huge Bumps with. We noticed a 4 or 5 inch hole in the oil pan will duct tape do the job?Can You Fix a Big Hole In an Oil Pan?
Duct tape might do the trick. At least until you put oil back in the pan.

The only ';fix'; would be to remove the pan, use a hammer to to get the metal back in shape and have it tig welded professionally.

It'd probably be cheaper to get one at a junkyard. Can You Fix a Big Hole In an Oil Pan?
No, you have to replace it. And if you hit something so hard as to put that large of a hole in the pan, you probably damaged the crankshaft too which spins very close to the bottom of the pan, as well as the oil pump.
No. You need an oil pan. You can get one from a junk yard. What surprises me is that your car is not already in the junk yard.
If the hole is that big, you will need to replace the oil pan. You can get one in a junkyard pretty cheap.
sure that and chewing gum two wire hangers might help also no you buy a new one cant repair oil pan
I hope this is a joke, but if it is not NO!!! You cannot repair the hole in an oil pan. It must be replaced.
replace the oil pan with another one.
you would have to clean it then put the tape on otherwise the heat will burn it off
Bubblegum, and bailing wire works good.Maedaobqhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01153477335457856104noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2508496162253629466.post-76898622457015712372010-04-28T19:19:00.002-07:002010-04-28T19:19:31.708-07:00Are oil drain pans necessary...?or is there something else I can use that is perhaps a bit cheaper? Are oil drain pans necessary...?
I don't know my $9.95 oil drain pan is damn handy and beats the hell out of an old milk jug that I usually see people using. So I guess the old milk jug or fork over ten bucks for a decent drain pan.Are oil drain pans necessary...?
Unless you wanna make a hell of a mess trying to get it into a milk jug then I would spring the 10 bucks for one...its worth it
you can go to Wal-Mart and try to get an unexpensive one. thats where my boyfriend got mines when he changed my moms oil
You could, and have the auto parts store (or wherever you are legally dumping the oil at) will turn you away for using the wrong container..... atleast spend LESS than 10 bucks for one at wally world.
I guess anything that will fit underneath the car will do, so long as the oil does not eat through it. Remember to recycle your oil, most auto parts houses will accept your waste oil for free.
Jiffy Lube. Not cheaper, but if you don't want to deal with it. There is a pump system but it's expensive and you need the special drain plug to go with it all. That's the bomb, but it's for fleet vehicles when you change a lot of oil every day.
You could unravel some tin cans, duck tape em all together, then use super glue and baling wire to stick it underneath yer car.Maedaobqhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01153477335457856104noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2508496162253629466.post-20058175948579280592010-04-28T19:19:00.001-07:002010-04-28T19:19:15.929-07:00What should be the temp of oil in pan for frying chicken? I have had the problem where by the time the?chicken is done, the batter is too dark...a bit burnt. Thanks. What should be the temp of oil in pan for frying chicken? I have had the problem where by the time the?
nop .....do not grease the pan...oil already comes from the turkey/chicken....so there is no need!!..enjoy!What should be the temp of oil in pan for frying chicken? I have had the problem where by the time the?
350.

Be sure you have at least 1'; of oil. Start with the oil at 350-375. Don't crowd the chicken in the pan or the temp of the oil will drop and the chicken won't fry properly. Do it in two batches if you have a lot of chicken.

An instant read thermometer helps a lot with frying. They are about $10.00 at WalMart.
350 degrees F.
350. You can not go wrong
The correct answer again is 350 degrees. A candy thermometer can go a long way to helping you get the oil to the correct temperature and maintain itMaedaobqhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01153477335457856104noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2508496162253629466.post-48209188541604332592010-04-28T19:19:00.000-07:002010-04-28T19:19:00.673-07:00Jacking the car up using the oil pan?And wood?

Is this safe at all? I'm trying to remove the engine mount and manual says to take the weight off it, so jack the engine up by placing a piece of wood under the oil pan and jack it up.

How safe is this? Wouldn't the oil pan just bend up?Jacking the car up using the oil pan?
take a chain and a engine hoist.lift it a little.dont do it on the oil pan.it will put a hole in it.then you will need a oil pan and gasket.Jacking the car up using the oil pan?
If you have enough money to buy 200 oil pans, you might want to do this 200 times. Then if you use a kind of sturdy wood, you can even use the hole it could possibly make on the oil pan to make it seem as though you're in King's Island's Boomerang Bay and under the Jackaroo Falls! Then maybe, just maybe, it will all work out - you may not have a working car, but you will at least have experienced the refreshingly delightful jackaroo Falls right in your own garage.

This was my friend's attempt at being funny. My own answer is No, it's not safe and yes your oil pan will bend up badly.
It's perfectly safe as long as you partially lift and remove both motor mounts first. Do not try to jack up the pan while it's still hinged on one side. This will cause bending if a thin metal or actually break an aluminum pan.

When placing the block of wood under the pan be careful to miss the drain plug when lifting with a hydraulic floor jack.

Idealy it's best to lift the motor with a rented engine hoist from the top. Many motors have hooks on the intake maninold or near the bellhousing for this purpose.
Yea if the manual says it its fine. However make sure you use a thick piece of wood (like several layers of plywood) that covers the whole pan. The strength is on the edges. Also make sure the wood is not sitting up on the drain plug. Also make darn sure you do disconnect the engine mount and the engine is moving before cranking on the floor jack.
if the pan is in good shape, it won,t bend it. just take a 2x6 or a board and put on the pan and use a floor jack.i did that many of times.
It is safe. You're not trying to jack up the whole car, just the engine, and only slightly. I use a 1 foot long 2x10 for just this purpose.
not at all. u just use the jack to support the weight of the engine while the engine mount is off. just dont try to lift the car with the oil pan or it will bend.

u can do this but defenatly use a piece of wood large enough to cover most of the oil pan to distribute the weight. The oil pan would prob bot bend but put the wood on as many coners tht you can
great makeup
Maedaobqhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01153477335457856104noreply@blogger.com0
